All without the chemical additives found in commercial, over-the-counter skin care products. Natural herbal skin care will charm all 5 of your senses without damaging your skin, your wallet, or the environment.

Natural Herbal Skin Care Products; the Healthier Choice Always!
People are concerned about the skin care products they use. Commercial skin care products sold these days contain too much of all sorts of chemicals and preservatives which may seem to perform what they promise but are either hazardous to our health, with harsh or carcinogenic chemicals exposed to the skin, or their claimed skin care benefits are short-lived. While the list of artificial ingredients supplied for use in commercial skin care products by the petroleum and chemical industry grows ever longer, more and more skin care product developers see the wisdom and efficacy of using mainly herbal ingredients without the chemical additives found in commercial, over-the-counter skin care products in their formulations.

General Content of Herbs
Natural herbal skin care products, when made from pure herbs and other nature-derived ingredients and blended together at their optimum level, is indeed an alternative to dangerous chemicals and can offer not only healing of various skin problems, such as infections, rashes, cracking, etc., but also act as a natural health resource with antibiotic and immune-building properties. Some of the more popular and effective herbal ingredients are:
  • Myrrh Gum - used for thousands of years, has antimicrobial and antiseptic wound healing properties, and is cooling and astringent to inflamed tissues.
  • Goldenseal Root - has astringent, antibiotic action and is used topically for skin infections .
  • Peppermint and Sandalwood Oil – often used asa base with gentle stimulating effect.
  • Rosemary Extract - stimulates cell renewal, improves circulation and acts as a physical and mental stimulant.
  • Algae - derived from seaweed and is a natural moisturizer that has detoxifying properties and helps prevent wrinkles.
  • Wintergreen Oil - obtained from the leaves of the Wintergreen plant with a strong heat/cooling action. Intensely aromatic and containing methyl salicylate, an analgiesic, it’s often used as an astringent in lotions, creams, salves, and as a rub for sore muscles, arthritis, rheumatism, or sciatica.
  • Sea Clay - Tiny mineral particles previously carried along by rivers in geological years, then deposited in the sea. Used in both mud packs and face masks. Its natural drawing action removes impurities from deep within the pores, leaving the skin clean, clear, detoxified and stimulated.

More Specific Contents
Many natural herbal skin care products contain exclusive herbal ingredients which only work for a particular purpose, leaving other aspects of the skin unaffected, unlike the commercial skin care products. Women are unknowingly exposing themselves to some 100 chemicals -- many of which have been found to be toxic or carcinogenic -- every morning and night when they cleanse and treat their face with potions supposedly designed to make them look better. A typical contrast between commercial and natural herbal skincare products would be, for example, a natural herbal skin care solution for acne may contain witch hazel, which acts as a natural astringent for those having particularly oily skin problems. Leaving this product on the skin for an extended period wouldn’t do the user any harm, but a commercial product having the same function might contain chemicals such as 1, 4-dioxane and methylparaben, which can be very harmful to the skin when exposed to a longer period of time.

So because the skin eats, digests and eliminates, much like the body it encloses, only substances that nurture and support the skin should be applied to it. Harsh chemicals and pharmaceuticals are problematic because they must be eliminated by the skin, thereby taxing and aggravating it and they don’t align with the core biological requirements of our body needed for its health and longevity. Over time, the consequences of our diet, lifestyle choices, and stress factors start to catch up with us and begin to show on our skin; while we can’t avoid some of those “red flags,” we can use our awareness of wholesome and nourishing ingredients to “feed” our skin as wisely as we feed our faces!
